Recent changes to CGS Title 46b have expanded the use of arbitration in family disputes to include authorization for the use of arbitration to resolve conflicts relating to child custody, support and visitation. These changes, if adopted in practice, have the potential to accelerate resolution of these disputes, reduce the cost of resolution and alleviate some of the stress on our over-burdened court system. This program will bring judge, arbitrator and practitioner together to explain the scope of the new legislation, discuss the pros and cons of selecting arbitration and outline the nuts and bolts which must be considered when proceeding by arbitration in family law disputes.
